Stop Motion

My first couple animations in stop motion. We had one class dedicated to stop motion and it was probably one of my favourites! These are two assignments that we did, the first one the puppet had to 'smash' something with his club & second is obviously a walk cycle (which is much harder to do than it looks!). Definitely want to do more of this!

Last night I decided to do some drawings of me-self, cause that's what I like to do on my Friday nights apparently.

I just used my webcam on my computer as a mirror Aha!

I really like how this second one turned out! (below left)

The last one doesn't really look like me (above right), but I kinda like it - it has a bit of a wonky feel to it I think.

Third Year Things

First things first, just finished my first week working as an intern at Nickelodeon Animation Studios in Burbank, California! So far it's been a really amazing experience, I am extremely happy and grateful to be working for such an awesome studio.
I look forward to the next 3 months...

This summer will be the 3rd year that I am leading and organizing the Annual 'Young Artists Among Us' Art Exhibition.

Chrimbo Hols Finally! aka Christmas Break!

Apparently I am very ambitious this break because I brought home tons of art supplies and my scanner. We'll see how that goes... Anyways its good to be home, busy getting ready for Christmas etc etc.
Here are some fun Christmas related things.
Every year, for several years now, my mum and I paint windows for Christmas. We do stores like Tim Hortons, Wendy's, McDonalds, Canadian Tire, A&W, etc (basically whoever wants work done). ^ So here's me in front of one of our "masterpieces" :P I love doing this, its fun, relaxing, you meet cool people and gets you in the 'Christmas Spirit' [bonus-we also get free food sometimes ;)].
Here are some sample photos of our uber fantastic window paintings. We just use acrylic paints & permanent marker.

I experimented with watercolours this weekend! I have been looking at a lot of fashion illustrations lately and have been completely in love with them and want to learn to create amazing stuff like that, so I decided to pull out the old watercolours! Which I have not used for over a year now at least!

^I enjoy how these 3 girlies turned out :)^Something a little different. Kind of like bits of it, definitely room for improvement!
I'm excited to do more!
*On a side note: my roommate got an early Christmas present today..... its a KITTTYYYY! It's adorable! <3 I approve of the new addition to our already lovely house :D

Character Design Assignment 2 of year 2!
Create 2 contrasting characters, do a rotation and action poses (one must be running the other walking).
So here they are!
I liked how these turned out, especially the little girl (I think she is supa cute).

It was my first time drawing a fatter character. That was fun. Her poses aren't as good but oh well, I'm learning right? Right.Also... used my scanner for the first time!! yayayayayay! horrrays! So that means more sketchy sketchbook sketches coming up!

Dino Dilemna

Okay so I don't hate you... that was the Conflict for this assignment. & the Resolution was "they get together" or "they get revenge" and in this story's case they get revenge.
These are my Beat Boards for Storyboarding! They are pretty self explanatory but here is the breakdown anyways:

Beat 1: Two Dinosaurs come up to a patch of grass.
Beat 2: Big Dinosaur decides to be a greedy bastard & since he is bigger he decides hecan be a bully. Little Dinosaur is not impressed.
Beat 3: Little Dinosaur decides that he is not having any of this and just bites the Big Dinosaur's face off.
Beat 4: Little Dinosaur is now content and has eaten the Big Dinosaur. The green patch of grass does not get eaten, instead its the Little Dinosaurs cushion.

Doll painting I also did over the summer. It's not done. I am still debating what to do with the background, but here it is for now. I'm really pleased with how the doll turned out. The background is really much darker, but the glare makes it look lighter.
Also went to Nuit Blanche in Toronto last night. It was super awesome. and now I'm super tired, go there at 9 and went to sleep this morning at 8! ahhhhh. But awesome art and fun stuff.
Gotta go to homework now though.......

Here is a painting I FINALLY finished over the summer! Well I am still not 100% satisfied with it... but honestly I think I've added another 10 cm to the canvas's width cause I have repainted it soooo many times. No lie. At least 10 times for sure.

Woot. Im back.
Here is a painting I did over the summer. Its pretty big, I was inspired by Karen O's energy on stage at the Yeah Yeah Yeahs concert I attended. I still have to fix her mouth though I just realized it looks really un-epic and dumb. But I did this fairly quickly and tried to let myself go and not be such a perfectionist.

ALSO! GOT A WACOM FOR MY BIRTHDAY!! HELLS YEAH! now I really need to figure out how to use computers....

Anyshoes, so the little town I live in has a Cactus Festival every year and it has like zero to do with cacti/cactuses? but its some old tradition, nevertheless it happened last weekend and I thought the title was fitting. Maybe? My mom and I usually display & sell our artwork at the festival. Go team!

I found this in my closet. I just cleaned out my closet not too long ago and I store all my artwork there and I found a couple things I totally forgot about (and some things I am glad I forgot about). "Young Artists Among Us" Art Exhibiton

On Saturday August 9th the 2nd Annual "Young Artists Among Us" Art Exhibition took place at Pier 8, Waterfront on Discovery Drive.This event was organized by a group of young people for young artists in local communities. The project was organized and led by myself with the help of the 'Youth Organizing Committee', which consisted of; Celia Krampien, Colin Davis, Jeremy Bondy, and Samantha Niton. (Below is a photo of the committee)

The day was a great success with lots of artwork to be seen and fun activities for all ages, including a group mural. 16 boards were painted by artists and eager people from the community. The boards will be put together and hung up somewhere in Hamilton (place not yet disclosed, will announce).
The seed funding for this project came from the Hamilton Community Foundation; the rest was provided through community support, fund-raising and volunteers. The goal of the Youth-Led Community Action Project is to get young people to take initiative in the community and learn organization and leadership skills. We got support from adult mentors who helped guide us through the process of putting together such an event.On behalf of the Youth Organizing Committee and myself, we would like to extend a big THANK YOU to all of the participants, volunteers, helpers, mentors, artists and of course our sponsors!!
I hope next year will be an even bigger success than this years!

So today I finally got me some programs on my computer! INCLUDING PHOTOSHOP - finallly eh? like about time. jeeez. But yes im uber stoked. Now I need to buy a Wacom & a scanner slash printer slash laundry machine slash microwave all in one dealy.
& I am in the middle of crazy computer organizing and project stuff and kasia stuff. But more artwork sooon.

My "Young Artists Amoung Us - Art Exhibition" project is over! and it was a huge success!

Heyyy all.
Just got back from my amazing Europe trip! It was so fantastic and now I have over 3 thousand photos! My mother and I backpacked through Paris to Italy to Vienna and then to Poland. It was such an awesome experience, everyday was completely unique and I actually got to drawing lots (but only really once I got to Poland).
I will be posting more artwork soonish, I am still busy with my project and, of course, traveling - I am off to the Atlantic Provinces this week. :)

Yeah I dug up another old painting. I promise to put more artwork up later on. However, now I am tres busy getting ready for Europe Trip! yeah yeah! When I get back in a month my goal is to get a scanner and scan mucho artesos! (I have no idea what kind of accent that was supposed to be). Anyshoes this is a practice grey scale painting I did in 2006. I used a photo for reference.
ALSO, I really need some life drawing up here. and character design.

So this was one of my first attempts at acrylic so I was pretty impressed.

These two paintings were part of a three fold assignment.

1. We had to draw the still life with pencil.
(Will not upload this one because the picture quality is so awful)
2. We had to paint it in a Realism style with acrylics (First painting).
3. Then we had to do another piece using any media we wanted in a Romanticism Style(Second painting).

After my visit to Aushwitz in Poland in 2006 I was incredibly inspired to create something that represented my feelings about what happened during those years.
This was done in acrylic.
There was a description I wrote just after my visit, but I can't find it right now.

This is my flour sack animation, i really enjoyed this one.
I think its cute!
The object he is interacting with is an egg and at the end a chick comes out and yells "MAMA!".

This is a piece I did for my very vague 2D assignment last year.
We had to create something inspired by nature & thus I did a fashion line that was inspired by nature. I called it "Natural Instincts". I had a ton of fun designing the outfits & quite enjoyed the turn out. The first board is more like casual wear and the second is more high fashiony.
You can\t really see all the details in these photos. its kind of a shame.

So I was going through my computer and I found these illustrations I did for an English assignment in grade 12. I had to write a children's book and do the illustrations for it as well. I did these in watercolour pencil crayons. These are just a few of the drawings.

The story was about two "kitkitties" (half elephant half kitty creatures) that get into an argument & try to prove to one another that they are right and the other is wrong. In the end it turns out that both of them were right and that they just had different point of views. (hahaha it sounds lamer than it actually is).

First Painting Assignment of the year. I actually enjoyed working in gouache and think I am slowly improving in painting. Yay! We had to draw a composition of our choice and then do 4 paintings of that image. First three paintings had to be achromatic and the last had to be monochromatic. Painting 1 is flat. Painting 2 is a gradient. Painting 3 is 3D. Painting 4 we got to choose which style we wanted to paint in and then do a monochromatic painting (black and white plus one colour). I liked this assignment.

Yes, I was a tree for halloween this year!
My roommates all dressed up as characters from the Wizard of Oz, but I had the tree idea thought up months ago, so they made me be the tree in the movie that throws apples at the characters? I don't really remember that movie.
Anyways our costumes were fantastical! I love dressing up. :D
I added the best photo I could find of my costume. & there is the lion and scarecrow as well.
